Hey there! Well, so much for updating the blog weekly!

But here it is, a new one for you!

Easter is fast approaching and for many that means a bit more chocolate than normal. Unfortunately, the stores push all the treats that have us begging for more! Hey! Sugar addiction is a real thing!! So, if you are struggling with overdoing it on the sugar/chocolate, I have good news for you.

DARK CHOCOLATE IS OK!!! (everything in moderation of course!)

I'm sure you've heard this already, but did you know??? Dark Chocolate (oh, the higher the cocoa content the better!) can help you out in many areas:

(Taken from google AI)

Heart Health:

  • Lowers blood pressure:

Flavanols in cocoa, found in dark chocolate, can relax blood vessels and improve blood flow, potentially lowering blood pressure.

  • Reduces the risk of heart disease:

Dark chocolate may help prevent blood clots and improve cholesterol levels, contributing to a healthier heart.

  • May protect against cardiovascular disease:

Studies suggest that dark chocolate may help protect against heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) disease.

Brain Function:

  • Improves memory:

Some research indicates that dark chocolate may improve memory and cognitive function, possibly due to increased blood flow to the brain.

  • Boosts brain activity:

The flavonoids in cocoa are thought to support brain function and visual activity.

Gut Health:

  • Promotes a healthy gut microbiome:

Dark chocolate can increase the diversity of gut bacteria, which is beneficial for digestion and overall health.

  • Supports digestion:

The antioxidants in dark chocolate can promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, improving digestion and boosting the immune system.

Other Benefits:

  • Rich in antioxidants:

Dark chocolate is a good source of antioxidants, which help protect the body against damage from free radicals.

  • Contains essential minerals:

Dark chocolate is a good source of minerals like iron, magnesium, copper, and manganese, which are important for various bodily functions.

  • May reduce inflammation:

The antioxidants in dark chocolate can help reduce inflammation in the body.

  • May improve skin health:

The antioxidants in dark chocolate can protect the skin from damage and promote a healthy complexion.

  • May lower diabetes risk:

Some studies suggest that dark chocolate may help lower the risk of type 2 diabetes.

You have permission to eat chocolate! haha. Well, at least 30-60 g daily (about 1-2 oz). Remember, everything in moderation.
