Are you starting to come up with new years resolutions? Do you find yourself saying you'll wait until the new year to do such and such?
The idea of a new year resolution dates as far back as 4000 years ago with the ancient Babylonians, pledging to their gods different things they would do. It became a more popular tradition in the 18th century.
However, we know that nowadays most people who declare a resolution very rarely see it through.
I bet its because they don't have a plan. Remember in an other blog we talked about SMART goals. This applies to resolutions too because a resolution is a goal!
I bet it's also the timing. January 1st is a busy day. January 2nd is probably just as busy. Heck, the whole first week of the new year is busy
Part of the SMART goals is timely and relatable. It's important to pick the right time to set resolution. And it's important that its relative to and aids your already good habits.
So, when is a good time for resolutions? Anytime that is good for you, honestly.
Just know you don't have to wait for Jan 1st. And you don't need to despair if you miss that date either.
Today is a good day.
Tomorrow is too.
You can decide to work on something small, something big, something you've been talking about forever, and/or something you were just inspired with now!
Having a resolution means you are wanting to become a better version of yourself and that can be worked on anytime of the year!
What are you waiting for?
Get to work! 😉
