New Year. New You?

Wait. I need to change who I am?

This motto is heard so much around the new year. At gyms. Online challenges.

If these places are saying it, what does it even mean?

I would imagine that for a lot of people, it means a transformation. It's a new year. I'm going to "look" like a new person. It will be a new me.

Maybe some look at it as an opportunity to create new habits in their lives. They believe they can make life better for themselves. My life will make me a new me.

Or perhaps it means a shift in our perspective. I believe we start to change from the inside when we look at things, at life, differently. I am creating a new way of seeing myself. A new me.

Many times when we focus on the outer part, we fall. It's humanity. We are weak. There is absolutely nothing wrong with making that resolution of creating a new you by focusing on the "look". But before you can see a new person, you need to work on the habits. Habits create discipline and discipline creates change. But even before the habit creating, we need perspective. A WHY. A Positive outlook.

So, if you hear the motto, New Year. New You. again, and you find yourself nodding, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Why? If I think I need to change, why?

  • What? What am I willing to do to see this change come?

  • How? How will I do this?

  • When? When will I start this process?

  • Who? Who is the person I'd like to see at the end?

This could just be for 2026. Maybe in 2027 you'll have new goals. You'll have a new situation. You'll have a new perspective.

The goal is always to be a better you than you were yesterday. To become a better version of yourself each day. New Year, New You? Why not, New Year, Better You?

PSA's

Please wear clean, close-toe shoes in the gym.

Even if the gym is busy, don't rush through your reps. Safety first. Go at a good pace, so you can finish strong and in a timely matter and without hurting yourself or slamming the weights down. Respect each person please and respect times on machines or benches and even in front of the mirrors.

If you see people stretching or doing core work in the Stretch room, please don't bring in barbells and dumbbells and set up in there. Either wait, or set up in the equipment room. Always safety first.

We are working diligently at finding a new yoga instructor. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you everyone!

Your coach,

Tracy
