It's stress relief.

It's cognitive therapy.

It's an ongoing chance to learn.

It's an opportunity to challenge yourself.

It's also an opportunity to be kind to yourself.

Some of you reading this are experts in the exercise world, while others may be just starting or perhaps just contemplating starting.

All of those stages are important in their own way and I hope this article can help you stay motivated in whichever stage you're in.

Stress relief.

I'd be hard pressed to find someone out there who is not experiencing some sort of stress. Whether it be environmental, financial, social, or brought upon by their own selves, stress is everywhere. Its how we deal with it that's important, and Exercise is a very underutilized measure of relief. It allows us to relax the mind and focus on something other than our problems. It also created endorphins, the happy hormone.

Cognitive therapy.

In keeping with the last note of relaxing the mind, and the happy hormone, exercise also helps with creativity and allows us to think about bit more clear once we're done.

Chance to learn.

Exercise helps us learn about ourselves. Our body and how to care for it. The limits we create for ourselves. And how to overcome them.

Opportunity to challenge.

I love a good challenge and so do our bodies! They love to be pushed. Of course, pay attention to how far you can push yourself, but try new things, have fun, dare to do.

Opportunity to be kind to yourself.

Exercise takes care of your whole being. Your heart. Your mind. Your balance. Your joints. Your bones. Your breathing. Be kind to yourself and carve out some time to move.

You don't need a lot of time. And you don't need to over exert yourself each time. Just move. Stand. Walk. Bend over. Squat down.

Reach. All functional movements for every day living. Add a little intention to them and they get labeled as "exercise " 😉

As mentioned at the beginning, you could be in one of 3 stages. Already there. Just starting. And contemplating.

My message for you in each stage is:

Yay you. Keep it up.

Yay you. Do it again.

Yay you. Just start.

I'm here for you each step of the way.

PSA:

I realize the weather is getting nicer and you may just be wearing your sneakers to the gym. I ask you to please make they are clean OR even better, still bring a 2nd pair for inside.
