Make This Your Week -- at the FitStop!

Did you ever think about that? That this could be YOUR week? This could be the week you make a big decision. This could be the week you hit a goal. This could be the week you say yes to something good in your life. This could be it!

Here are 5 points to take into your week to help you out (this can be used for workouts, or any area of your life, really.)

  1. Patience-- this is key to moving ahead. We can't expect to get results or get what we want right away. In this world of instant gratification, let's practice Patience.

  2. Pieces--break it up. Don't do it all at once. Workout, project, housework, etc, small goals are more achievable.

  3. Posture. Now this seems like it can only be linked to working out, but guess what? Our posture fixes much more than just our deadlifts! Straighten your back for a second and you'll see you feel prouder. Lift your chin a bit and you feel happier. Roll your shoulders back and you feel prepared!

  4. Practice. Everything gets better with practice. Bring back patience with this one!

  5. Perseverance. Times get tough. But we must persevere in order to grow. Keep going!!

CHANGE PROGRAM: Do you have or are you at risk of metabolic syndrome? Do you have at least 2 of the following?

  • High blood pressure

  • Diabetes/pre-diabetes

  • Abdominal obesity

  • High triglycerides

  • Low HDL-cholesterol

The Change program at UPEI may be for you. For more info come see Tracy or call 902 620 5156 or email change@upei.ca

PSA: it can't be emphasized enough. Please put your weights away. Not only is dangerous to have weights or bars on the floor, but for some, it may be dangerous to lift and try to put away. If ypu are strong enough to lift it off the rack, you're strong enough to put it back. Thanks!

EQUIPMENT: FitStop has new weights and they're beautiful. Please enjoy and take care of them.

There is also some Dycem non-slip grips by the Squat racks. Please feel free to use to help with pull-ups, deadlifts, etc.

NEW CLASS: Happy Feet with Adrienne

A barefoot mandatory class.

Your feet support the weight of the rest of your body. They are there, working in the steps you take on the daily. It's important to give them some care and maintenance as we age. In this series we will learn to improve the flexibility, Muscular strength and stability of your feet.

Offered on Tuesday, August 6th and 13th at 10am.

That's it for this week! See you in the gym.
