Find Variety at FitStop

It was brought to my attention one day that many of our strength machines have multiple uses but so many of us only know one or two things to do on them. So, I did a little research and created an exercise reference guide! It is available for download on our app: sside.ca/FitStopApp. Check it out. I will also be printing out lists for certain machines with different moves you can do.

You honestly will never be bored!

So, let's dive in to this, shall we? Each machine is designed specifically to work a certain muscle or group of muscles. However, a little tweak, or a change in form can make the world of difference! For example, if you change your stance on the leg press, you can target every muscle in your legs, not just your glutes and quads, which would be with the regular stance. Raise your feet to the top of the press, and concentrate on your hamstrings. Feet at the lower part enhances the lower part of the quads. A wide stance works the inner thighs and narrow stance works the outer thighs. You can even do calf presses using just your toes. There you have it! 6 moves on 1 machine. Never bored again!

Other machines can do multiple moves that target a variety of muscles. Like the Smith Machine! It works the legs, calfs, shoulders, back, and more.

The reference guide looks at a number of the strength machines as well as the cable machine, battle ropes and hyperextension machine. There will be more added in the next little bit, as we have resistance bands, stability balls, medicine balls, bosu balls, TRX, and more to look at!! I can't iterate it enough! You will never be bored at FitStop!!!

So, please do yourself (and me) a favor, download the app and get the reference guide on your phone!

BIRTHDAY DRAW: Congratulations to Dave Snider who won the June Birthday Draw giveaway! Enter to win if your birthday is in July!!

Many comments coming to me in regards the AC in the gym. Unfortunately, the hotter it is outside, the hotter it is in the main gym. Thanks to those who lower the blinds when the sun shines in hot. It is what it is, folks. Sorry. The AC is on, but has a hard time cooling the big area. If it does get too hot for you, please take a break by going into the squash courts or the equipment room. Don't push yourself to the point of full exhaustion if it is too hot.

SNACKS: It has been a while, but I will be bringing some snacks back to the FitStop. Get ready for some trail mix, energy balls, and something special over the next few weeks!

CHALLENGE: Participants are coming into week 3 of their Step into Summer Challenge! So proud of them all. Stay tuned for the next Challenge coming at the end of July!

WELLNESS WORKSHOP: We had 10 people attend our Wellness 101 Workshop on June 26th. It was wonderful. We have a new workshop coming on up July 23rd. Link to register coming soon. Topic is Stress Management.

Summer Schedule is in full swing for our classes. Check the poster out on the Squash court wall, or online.

Monday, July 7th, is Injury Prevention Awareness Day. Take a second to check out the poster on the bulletin board. Surprising facts. Folks, don't take a single day for granted as anything can happen. However, the whole point of this awareness day is that we PREVENT the anything... So, let's make sure no injuries happen at the FitStop. Please use the machines properly. Please put equipment away when finished. And most of all, Please pay attention to your surroundings. Let's stay safe! Thank you.

Thank you for your loyalty to FitStop!

Your coach, Tracy
