Rest Easy: Simple Habits for Better Sleep
Are you ready to fall asleep and stay asleep for the night?
Is this something you struggle with?
maybe you have a hard time falling asleep.
maybe you have a hard time staying asleep
maybe you have a hard time waking up in the morning b/c of the above...
FitStop wants you to be healthy. Optimally. And that means sleep too. Because, as you know, you don't function as well with a bad nights sleep. And if you are working out daily, sleep is super important for your muscles to recover!
So, let's look at some different things -- natural things -- you can do to improve your ZZZs.
Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep a night. The best way to do this is to pick a time to go to sleep and a time to wake yourself up and stick with those times! Of course, life happens. So if you go to bed a little later, try to wake a little later. If that's not possible, you will notice a decrease in energy that particular day.
Put the phone/blue screen away. At least a half hour before sleep. This will help decrease the dopamine that keeps your brain active and energetic, and allow the melatonin to get to work helping you to sleep.
Keep your room dark, cool and quiet to encourage cozy feelings, and to work along with your natural biology to trigger and maintain deep, uninterrupted sleep.
Limit caffeine and food a few hours before sleep. This really is a given. Caffeine is a stimulant and food sitting in your system can cause indigestion (as well as weight gain).
What if you are doing all these things and still are having trouble??
Here are a few natural products that could potentially help:
Chamomile
Ashwagandha
Melatonin
Magnesium (Glycinate or Bisglycinate)
All the above take time and patience. But your sleep is worth it. YOU are worth it. Put the effort in.
Good luck and Sleep tight.
